As an office-based business, we are conscious of our impact on the environment. So, we are growing a forest! For every new file that we open, we will plant a tree.

It is now common knowledge that one of the best tools to tackle the climate crisis and keep our temperatures from rising above 1.5C is to plant trees. Trees are one of the best tools we have in removing carbon pollution from our atmosphere. They are also crucial to preventing ecological collapse.

Ecologi

We have signed up to Ecologi to plant our trees. Ecologi’s tree planting partner, The Eden Reforestation Projects, plant millions of trees around the world each month. Through their projects, they not only carry out successful reforestation, but they create livelihoods for people living in extreme poverty.

Ecolgi aim to help millions of individuals and business become climate positive. Climate positive means that actions go beyond achieving net zero carbon emissions to create an environmental benefit by removing additional carbon dioxide from the atmosphere. You are saving more carbon that you are creating.

You can find our forest here.

If you would like to grow your own forest, use our link and Ecologi will plant 30 extra trees for free.

We are working on other ways to become sustainable:

  • We are paper-light – although we cannot completely ditch our paper files, we are trying hard to reduce the paper that we use. Wherever possible we do not print letters/email and documents and we communicate with clients and other business using email. This saves us on average one quarter of a ream of paper per file! We can save upwards of 20 reams of paper each month.
  • We recycle – each of our offices has recycling bins so that we can recycle at work, as well as at home.
  • We allow remote working – many of our staff work from home for a couple of days each week, reducing car and fuel use.
  • We look for alternatives – our headed paper is printed on recycled paper, and we are working on switching all paper to recycled.

You can be more sustainable

We may have got you thinking about how you can be more sustainable. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Join Ecologi and plant your own trees. Use our link above to get extra trees planted for free and grow your own forest!
  • Reduce energy use. Turn off appliances when you are not using them, hang clothes to dry instead of using a tumble drier or switch to LED bulbs.
  • Resell or donate clothing. Extend the life of clothing and reduce fast fashion.
  • Save water. Take showers instead of baths, wait to wash clothes until you have a full load or install a water butt for watering plants.
  • Swap single use for reusable items, such as coffee cups, lunch boxes or bags. Ask us nicely and we will give you one of our reusable bags!
  • Eat less meat. Meat production is responsible for massive amounts of water use and gas emissions. Try going meat free once a week.

We hope we have inspired you to be more sustainable in your daily life. If each of us make small changes, it will add up to a massive impact on the environment. Keep an eye on our website to see how we get on with our own changes.
