Can I apply for divorce?

Provided that you have been married or in a civil partnership for one year, you can apply for a divorce. You no longer need to prove the grounds for divorce such as unreasonable behaviour or adultery, removing the need to lay blame.

How much does it cost?

Our costs      £300 + VAT

Court fee      £593

You may be able to get help with the Court fee is you get benefits or are on a low income.

These are the costs to end your marriage or civil partnership. There will be additional fees should you require assistance to resolve issues relating to your finances or children.

Protecting your finances

Getting a divorce does not sever your financial ties to your ex. We strongly recommend that you obtain a financial consent order (clean break order) as part of your divorce. This is a legally binding document, approved by the Court, setting out how your assets and money are to be split following your separation.

Our fees for assisting you will usually be charged at an hourly rate. Where your circumstances are suitable for a fixed fee, our fixed fees for financial consent orders start at £1,250 plus VAT.

You can find more details about our fees here.
